A Holly Jolly Slimline “How-To Layered Heat Emboss” with Carol

August 18, 2020

Hey all! Carol here from Scrapsandink (my handle, literally everywhere. Go find me and follow!). I am the newest Roadie on this amazing design team. This is my dream come true! 🌟 I’m so excited to be here and create with everyone!

I’m coming at y’all today with a favorite of mine. I’ve been so obsessed with this Slimline trend, lately and I knew I had to try it out for this card. And let me just say…. I’m here for it!

For this card, I started by cutting my card panel to slightly smaller than my card base (Think: 1/4″ smaller). I used some inks in pinks and reds to blend a gradient down the top, leaving the bottom third, mostly white.

Once the panel was completely dry, I heat embossed the solid circle in the Full Circle set, as my clear baubles. Then, I heat embossed on top of the clear circles, some fun designs from the same set. Very importantly: They must be done when the first layer is dry! As well, the second layer requires a gentle touch, or you risk smudging.

For the strings, I used a ruler, and a black, felt tip pen to draw lines and bows. For the sentiment, I grabbed something festive from the Fir Real set, and heat embossed it to some black card stock. I felt that gold was the perfect, festive touch. Pop it up on foam tape, and there you have it! Throw on some champagne enamels and you’ve got a slimline Christmas card! Roadie style 😉

Thanks again so much for joining me on my first of many design team projects! Hopefully this sparked some creativity!
