A Little Less Sweet, a Little More Snarky

December 19, 2019

Hello, hello. Samantha Ziegenfuss here with a card that is a little less sweet and a little more snarky. I was inspired to create this after seeing the gorgeous scrapbook layout that Angela Tombari made. I absolutely love the beautiful effect she achieved and wanted to replicate it; albeit with a snarky twist.

I love the beautiful Days_e Phrases set but, me being me, I needed to add salt to all that sweetness and “Samantha-fy” it.

To create this card I did something that will either horrify you or delight you; I cut my stamps apart.

I promise that these stamps didn’t cry when I cut them apart. If I ever want to stamp the Days_e set the way God (or in this case Lara Smith) intended all I have to do is stick the pieces back together.

After going all Edward Scissorhands on my stamps I stamped and stamped and stamped some more onto a rainbow assortment of colored cardstock.

Then I cut the sentiments into strips which I trimmed down even further.

I took a white A2 sized card base and, after adding some ink and paint splatters to it, stamped the “the world is” sentiment along the top, the “a little less” sentiment under that,  and the “with you in it” sentiment along the bottom, heat setting all in clear embossing powder.

I then adhered my sentiment strips in rainbow order down the length of the card between the “a little less” and the “with you in it” sentiments. I used the ampersand from the Block Party Alpha Outline stamp set between the word brave and the word thoughtful. I added hand written commas to the sentiment strips because I’m somewhat of a stickler when it comes to things like that.

What do you think? Are you a fan of cutting apart stamps or am I the only Scissorhands around here?
