Background Stamp Techniques with Lorena

March 31, 2020

Hello Roadies! Today I’ll be sharing some card designs using the Daisie Background stamp. I have a total of 5 cards to share today! Every time I use this stamp I end up getting carried away and make a bunch of cards. It’s such a beautiful background stamp! I used sentiment die sets from Bella Flora on all of the cards with varying companion sentiments from other sets. Let’s get started!

I picked three different colors of cardstock to make several cards. I picked a pale yellow, lilac, and a sky blue color.

I started by prepping the cardstock with some anti-static powder. I made sure to completely cover the entire panel to avoid embossing powder sticking where it isn’t wanted.

I like to stamp big background stamps face up to make sure I get an even impression. To do this I peel the backing off of the stamp and lay it face up on my glass mat. You can also use a stamping block for this.

I inked up the stamp using clear embossing ink and laid the cardstock panel over the stamp. I ran my fingers all over the paper then peeled it up and added my embossing powder. I used white embossing powder on the yellow and blue panel, and gold embossing powder for the lilac panel. Once the embossing was melted and cooled off, I wiped away any remaining anti-static powder with a dry cloth before ink blending.

Here are the finished ink blended panels. I used three colors for each panel. I picked a dark, medium, and light shade. Be sure to wipe off any ink sitting on top of the embossing using a dry cloth.

I made two cards out of the yellow panel. I cut the panel in half and then cut strips to .5″ and about .75″. I added foam to every other strip and glued the rest flat on a white card base.

I used the “lovely” and “hello” die sets from Bella Flora for both cards. I sprinkled in some sequins and yellow gems in Crystal Sunshine. I did add some ink splatter to one of the cards.

For the blue panel I meant to cut it in half to make two of the same cards but I eyeballed the measurements wrong. LOL. Not to worry, go with it!

I matted both strips onto black cardstock then onto silver glitter cardstock. The wider strip I adhered in the center of a white A2 sized card. For the thinner strip I offset it to the left side of a white A2 size card. I used the “hello” die set from Bella Flora. I cut the shadow using vellum and the word in the same silver glitter cardstock.

I used “You’re Amazing” from Holy Sh*t and “Its okay to not be okay” from blank. I added Tyler Blue gems and Tami Grey pearls to both cards.

For the lilac panel I started my ink blending on the bottom left corner and blended out towards the top right corner. I trimmed it down and adhered it onto a white A2 size card.

I used the “lovely” die set from Bella Flora for this card. I die cut the word from gold pearlized cardstock and the shadow part in black. I did partial stamping with the “You’re” from “You’re Old” on the Holy Sh*t set and gold heat embossed on a strip of the lilac cardstock. I sprinkled in gold sequins and Deluxe Catherine Purple gems to finish it off. Let me know which cards were your favorites! I really enjoyed making these and I hope I gave you some ideas for background stamps. 🙂 -Lorena
