Home Stamp SetsBLOCK PARTY OUTLINE ALPHAS Birthday Balloons

Happy Sunday! Guess what?!? Today is my Birthday, so naturally I’m going to share a birthday card with you today. Let’s get started.

I decided to use the Ink Road Stamps – Full Circle stamp set to create some balloons. First, I laid out the stamps in a sort of order I would be stamping them. I started with an A2 sized card front.

At this stage, I figured I wanted to add a 4th color to my rainbow. From my Catherine Pooler Ink stash, I pulled Party Dress, Orange Twist, Lemoncello, Lime Rickey, All That Jazz, and Flirty Fuchsia. Each circle will be stamped in a different color.

Next, I trimmed down the card to 3.5″ w x 5″ h (this will later change).

With the little triangle from Ink Road Stamps – Full Circle, I stamped a balloon tail on each of the circles with it’s coordinating ink color.

Then with a t-ruler and a pencil, I found the center of the card and the line I wanted my sentiment to be stamped near.

Using the Ink Road Stamps – Block Party Alpha Outline,  I stamped the word “B-Day!” I used the #1 for the dash between the “B” and “D”. Next, I erased the pencil mark and stamped “Happy” 3 times above the word “B-Day!”. For “Happy”, I did a little stamp surgery to “Happy Valentine’s Day” in the Modern Romance stamp set.

I then hand drew balloon strings using a Copic Multiliner pen. I incorporated the strings into the sentiment.

This is where I felt like I screwed up though. I originally was going to leave the sentiment black and white and once I drew the balloon strings I realized it looked odd and busy.

My solution? I colored the word “B-Day!” with the same Catherine Pooler ink colors I stamped the balloons with. I took the ink from the lids to add the color to the word. I didn’t use any water for this step.

I love how it turned out and brought some color to the bottom of the card.

Finally, I matted the card design with American Crafts Black Card stock and Lawn Fawn Sparkle Card Stock “Holiday” in Silver. This is foam mounted to an A2 sized Neenah Solar White card base.

Next, I decided to add a little sparkle to the word “B-Day!” using my Wink of Stella pen.

And there you have it! A colorful and simple birthday card for a friend, child, teen, or even a co-worker.

Thank you for joining me today! I’m spending my birthday with my dance family at our first dance competition this season. If you don’t know already, my husband and I own a dance studio in Fargo, ND. This is how I spend my birthday every year and I really don’t mind. I love those kiddos and they keep me on my toes and young.
