My birthday was in January…four months later and I finally decided to throw out all my birthday cards that I normally leave on a window shelf in my craft room to look at. I have a few friends who know I love card-making and though they don’t all create cards as a hobby they always make a wonderful effort to find cards they know I will like… so my card below is inspired by one of these cards. Specifically the sentiment: Enjoy Life Eat Cake
Here is my card:
What a great quote! I decided I wanted to recreate the sentiment using both Block Party Alphas and Block Party Alphas – Outline. Both these sets together make a wonderful combination of ways to stamp words to create whatever sentiment/word you want.
I decided to work with shades of blue ink and gold embossing powder and started my stamping process from the bottom right and worked my way through each word (backwards) so as to create a right ‘justified’ look for the placement of each word. I also used a ruler to help align each letter to make them as straight as possible. When I made this card I wasn’t really paying attention to what letters I heat embossed completely in gold or just outlined in gold or left in a shade of blue ink. But I did try to make sure that each line had at least one of these elements. I embellished the card with some blue twine and enamel dots and matted it to a blue card base to keep with the colour theme.
I love how this card turned out and will be saving this card to give to my friend (who gave me the card that inspired this card) on their birthday. Do you keep your birthday cards? Do you get inspired by them?
Hope you enjoyed my card today – I’d love for you to try this stamping technique out. I love how the gold embossing pops off the card and I love how easy it is to create your own sentiments using this fun stamp set!
