Hey crafty friends! It’s Marcie here with two colourful and bold birthday cards using sentiments from Mari Party. I adore the cute balloon bouquet and pile of presents in this set, but just knew I wanted to create something that would let the sentiments shine. I used two of my favourite ways to feature colour on my cards- ombre and rainbow.
On the first A2 card I used a variety of blue-green dye inks to stamp the bold birthday sentiment down the front of the card base. My MISTI tool helped keep the ‘happy birthday’ lined up perfectly as I stamped. The other sentiment from the Mari Party set- a beautiful script font- was heat embossed in a silver sparkle powder on teal cardstock, trimmed and adhered with foam tape. That same silver sparkle powder was used to heat emboss a strip along the bottom edge of the card. Post-It tape was used to mask off the edge before embossing to keep my line straight. Clear sequins of various sizes were added to finish it off. *If you wanted to add some extra sparkle to this card, you could add a messy bundle of silver thread under the sentiment, some glitter glue to the sequin centres and maybe a spritz of shimmer spray.*
My next card uses the bold birthday sentiment as a sort of a background shadow. I left the stamp on my MISTI from the previous card and this time stamped it repeatedly in a light grey dye ink down the card. I did the same thing with script sentiment, only this time in rainbow order and slightly offset. A few flatback silver pearls complete the card.
Here are the two of them together! Perfect to add to my stash of birthday cards and even better- they didn’t take long to make and could easily be recreated in any colour scheme you want!
