Hey y’all, Ali here! I did something I have never done before, and I’m super excited to share it with you! I know it sounds totally crazy, but…I made a stamp into a cut file! So here is why, you know that super cute girl with a top knot on the Swanderful stamp set? (If you haven’t seen the new stamps stop reading this and go check them out!). Well, she is basically my daughter, I mean, even when she saw the stamp she said, “Mama, that looks just like me!” I know that is silly, but she was so excited about it, I really wanted that stamp to be the FOCUS of my layout. And I love the outcome!
It was also really easy…so here is what I did. First, I stamped the image, just like you normally would. Then I scanned it into my computer (you could also just take a photo with your phone). I don’t have the new cameo with the scan and cut option, so I just scanned it in on my scanner. Then I used the trace function in Silhouette Studio, and bam! Adorable cut file of my stamp, and I can make it any size I want!
I did cut it in a few different colors, so I could make her hair and bow and lips all different colors of cardstock, I simply cut away what I wanted to use and tossed the rest. Then I layered them together and added a bit of stitching to her hair for more texture. I also added a fussy cut flower from the Carpe Diem collection from Simple Stories, just to give her hair bow a little more interest. As I was playing with this older collection and thinking about my daughter, I knew the sentiment “consider this diem carpe’d” (from the “The Struggle is Real” set) was absolutely perfect. So I stamped that right under the photo and journaled a bit.
I love that the focus is on the “stamp”! Now I may have to scrapbook about how much my little one loved her stamp doppleganger!
