Hello! And welcome back to another crafty day. Carol here from Scraps & Ink with a very fun, very simple, greeting card! Before I jump in, if you haven’t already, go ahead and subscribe to this blog, so you never miss a day! Also, join the Roadies over on Facebook where we share inspiration, and lift each other up!
Let’s jump in!
Today, I’m creating with the very beautiful, very fun Basics Flower 1 set.
For this card, I knew I wanted to take advantage of the little details in the die. I started with my cardstock: gray for the outline, red for part of the flower, and the berries, dark green for the “shaded” parts of the leaves, and light green. I also wanted my flower to stand out, so I used a very bright blue Copic Marker.
I love how versatile and fun this set is. You can stamp it, die cut and paper piece it, or stamp and use the shadow die to cut the stamped image out! There are so many uses for it, too!
I ran the die through my die cutter a total of 5 times to get all the components of the flower. And I got to work on piecing the elements together!
There was NO rhyme or reason to the flower, but I wanted the leaves to at least have some balanced look. I did start by gluing the gray outline to the background. I will say, it was very peaceful being able to sit down and focus on piecing everything together.
Finally, I picked a white panel, die cut it with a stitched border die. Heat embossed the sentiment FIRST. Then, positioned and attached my flower using foam tape.
When I first attached it, I felt it wasn’t popping enough so, I ended up pulling it up and coloring the edges Thankfully, I was careful and quick enough that I didn’t ruin my panel. Finally, I popped the whole panel up with foam tape, added enamel dots.
