I started by stamping the sentiment from Days_e Phrases onto a piece of white cardstock, leaving room in the middle because I knew I wanted to add an image there later. I stamped using Versafine onyx black ink then clear heat embossed on top for a deep black shiny sentiment.
On another piece of white cardstock I stamped the watercolor palette from Holly Pixels Art Supplies the same way, black ink with heat embossing. For the palette hinge and brush ferrule I colored with a grey marker, then painted over the top with some shimmer spritz so it looked metallic.
For the colors in the paint palette I paper pieced them using rainbow cardstock. Purple is my favorite color, and I didn’t want it to be neglected from the rainbow on my card, so I combined yellow and orange in my rainbow and choose a piece of cardstock in between the two colors to use. I stamped the image on each color using a light ink, then fussy cut the circles out and glued them to the palette.
The reason I paper pieced the paint for the focal image is so that I could make it coordinate perfectly with the background I was planning! I cut the colored cardstocks into 1/4 inch strips. I covered a piece of printer paper with double sided tape, then arranged the striped in a diagonal stripe by laying them next to eachother. I let them hang off of the side, then once I finished I trimmed the edges.
To finish the card I glued the sentiment panel onto the center of the rainbow background. Then fussy cut the palette and popped it up on foam tape in between the lines of the sentiment where I left space when stamping. I trimmed a tiny bit off of each side so the main panel would have a thin border, then glued it to a landscape top folding A2 card base.
As I always like to do, I finished off the inside. I made another thin strip of striped paper using the same technique, and glued this to the bottom of the card with a thin black cardstock border on top.
Thanks so much for reading! Always remember, the world is a little more colorful with YOU in it! (Yes…You!)
