“Courage, Dear Heart” is such a heartfelt sentiment that we all need at times. I know for myself in the last few weeks I’ve been muttering it under my breath a LOT. The floral bouquet of DAYS-E Bouquet is one of my favourite floral stamps ever, but it’s really the scripty sentiment that makes my heart flutter.
For my card today I started off with a panel of watercolor cardstock cut slightly smaller than an A2 sized card. After prepping my surface with a non-stick powder (so helpful in preventing stray flecks of embossing powder sticking to where you don’t want it to), I heat embossed the floral image with gold powder. Using Distress Oxide inks smooshed onto my watercolor media mat, I spritzed each spot of ink with water and then picked the ink up using a paint brush and got busy painting! Once it was all dry, I added some flecks of paint across the panel. I ended up using four colours of ink; Mustard Seed, Salty Ocean, Worn Lipstick (yes, I know it shows Picked Raspberry in the photo- my bad) and Wilted Violet. Kindergarten paint mixing lessons came in handy for green leaves when I mixed the blue and yellow together lol!
The final touches were to heat emboss the sentiment with the same gold powder as the flowers onto pink cardstock, trim, and adhere with foam tape. Sequins were glued on and the entire panel was added to a white card base also using foam tape. I love the dimension that little extra bit of elevation gives the entire card.
Wouldn’t the Bella Flora stamps look great watercoloured with Oxide inks too? Do you like Distress Oxide inks for watercolouring? Are you just sticking to regular Distress Inks? What’s your favourite colour of them all? You can find some other examples of watercolouring on the Ink Road blog here, here and here! Enjoy.
