I have been in search of a fruit themed stamp set for ages and am so glad to finally have This Stamp is Bananas in my stash! It has perfectly sized images and sentiments for each fruit- and it’s super easy to cut apart some of the words and create your own custom sentiment! I love that some of the images are solid and some are lined. Super cute, right?
For today’s project, I created a card that calls to mind a delicious fruit salad and would be great to send out as a thank you or even to send to a friend for no reason at all! We all need a little sweetness in our mailbox from time to time.
I started off by using white 110lb cardstock cut and scored to A2 size, and splattered watered down black dye ink across the entire panel. As it dried, I worked on stamping all the fruit images using a variety of dye inks and blending in ink on some of the fruits that are solid line images. Then I fussy cut them and arranged them how I liked on top of the card base and adhered using foam tape. I think foam tape is probably my most-used adhesive. It gives such great dimension.
The sentiment was created by doing a little surgery. Have you ever cut apart your stamps to make a custom sentiment? It’s so easy to do with photopolymer stamps! I simply trimmed apart one of the sentiments so I could use the “you are” part paired with the single ‘sweet’ stamp. Voila! A “you are sweet” sentiment that the set didn’t previously have. I heat embossed the words on black cardstock using white embossing powder, trimmed it and adhered with foam tape. A few clear sequins finish it off.
Are you a fruit eater? I’m more of a veggie gal, but I do love strawberries. I’m even growing them in my garden this year so we can eat them fresh off the vine! Do you cut apart your sentiment stamps? Are you brave enough to try? It’s fun creating your own custom sentiment.
