Hey friends! It’s Kira and I am back with a 12×12 layout I created with some pretty epic DIY floral embellishments.
I was immediately drawn to the flower in the Chin Up Buttercup stamp, and knew I wanted to stamp a bunch of them out and fussy cut them and create an explosion of floral goodness. So I stamped them all out in black and fussy cut them all out and then realized I actually didn’t really like them in black. One crafty night wasted!! That’s okay though because it led me to my next idea.
I decided the flowers needed to be in color. And I am currently crushing on vellum. So I stamped the flower out on some vellum in a variety of colors. But since I knew I wanted to use a strip of this wood grain paper on my background, I didn’t feel like the flowers would stand out enough. Enter idea #2.
I thought it might look cool to add some patterned paper behind my vellum and stick with a monochromatic color scheme. And to make my life easier, I turned the stamp into a cut file and made my Cricut do all the work for me. I cut them out at slightly larger than the stamp itself: 1.1″ to be exact.
Then it was just a matter of fussy cutting the vellum flowers and adhering them with just the tiniest bit of glue to the die cut flowers. But since you can see through vellum, I needed to do something to cover up the glue spot. This was a perfect time to add a little more texture to my embellishments. I stitched a simple French knot right in the center in the same color as each of the flowers.
Then I just had to layer them onto my page in an eye pleasing way! I also stamped some leaves from Bloom Where You Are Planted on some vellum, fussy cut them and tucked them around the flowers. I am so happy with how this layout turned out!
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time,
Kira
