Embroidery Hoop using Bun Intended 2 with Kira

January 4, 2019

Hey there Ink Road fans!  It’s Kira and I am back with a simple embroidery hoop project!  It’s no surprise that I love using my Ink Road Stamps sets for embroidery patterns, so when I got the Bun Intended 2 set, I jumped at the chance to create another fun “off the page” project.

This is definitely a project that a beginner could create with just a little bit of patience.  The supplies you’ll need are:

-Embroidery hoop (I used a 3″ hoop since the stamp itself isn’t super large, but if you wanted to add an embroidered floral wreath around the stamp, or a word to it, you could definitely go larger)

-Stamp set and ink of your choosing (for the mostly black hoop, I used Stazon Onyx ink, but for the other hoop, I used a pale tan distress ink, it really depends on what colors you want to stitch in)

-Embroidery floss and fabric (any fabric will do, but if you’re a beginner, I’d recommend a sturdier fabric vs. a cotton fabric)

The first thing I did was iron my fabric so I had a nice solid surface to stamp on.  Then, using ink (mentioned above), I stamped the image on my fabric.  You want to make sure you press firmly enough on the stamp so the entire image transfers to the fabric.  Then, place the fabric into your hoop and trim off any excess fabric.

I used a backstitch on both hoops, for every line.  This is a very simple stitch, that can easily be taught by just looking at a few Pinterest tutorials.  I used 2-3 threads of floss when stitching.  The less threads you use, the more detailed you can get in your stitching.

And that’s it!  These would make great gifts for a friend.  Let me know if you give it a try!

xo, Kira
