What do you do with a holiday set when the holiday is over? Get creative, that’s what! I love my special occasion sets but don’t like putting them away until the next year when they’re needed. I like to find ways to use them year round! That’s what I did today with two cards using the Easter-themed Eggstra set!
So how DID I use an Easter stamp set on this inspirational card? Check out that fun stamped pattern on the background of my card! That’s the large open egg in Eggstra which I turned into a pretty design by stamping repeatedly.
Fun, right?! By stamping the egg over and over in a pattern on pink cardstock, I made my own tone on tone background that set the backdrop for the main image and sentiment. I used a grid work surface to help me make sure the placement of each egg was more or less in line with the previous one. Once I was finished stamping I trimmed it to fit onto an A2 white card base.
The rest of the card uses Bun Intended 2, which I stamped, coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and then adhered to the stamped panel using foam tape. The sentiment was heat embossed using Liquid Platinum embossing powder onto black cardstock. A few iridescent sequins were glued on as a finishing touch and some glitter glue added to the hair ribbon.
My second card uses the solid egg image from the set. The egg was stamped several times in dye inks using rainbow colours. I fussy cut each one out and arranged them into a flower pattern. For the flower centre I looked through my stash of Ink Road Stamps and found the perfect circle in the Majestic AF set. I stamped it in black, cut it out and added it to the flower, with some glitter glue added. Do flowers have sparkly centres? No. Are flower petals in rainbow order? Also no. Oh well! I wish I had flowers like that growing in MY garden!
The rest of the card was simple to put together. I heat embossed a sentiment from Mari Party in white on a black cardstock panel and added the flower using foam tape. Using a white gel pen, I added dashed lines around the edge of the panel, then glued the entire thing to a white A2 card base.
So how can YOU use the holiday sets for other purposes? Think backgrounds and flowers for starters, like I have done. I can’t wait to hear and see what you come up with!
