Erica here with my first post as part of the Design Team here at The Ink Road! I’m really excited to be part of the team and hope I’ll be able to inspire a few of you along the way.
If you don’t know me, it’s fairly easy to assume I’m nice and normal but no. I’m a fully fledged Crazy Dog Lady, and not ashamed about it in the slightest either, no ma’am! I’m a housewife but prefer to say I’m a stay-at-home doggie Mummy to two sweet little weirdos, rescue dog sisters Gem-Gem and Mar-Mar, who were adopted from a charity in Spain. They are really shy with strangers but bark their heads off when anyone walks close to the gate of our garden and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Not that anyone can blame them for having issues after being abused, then abandoned and left to die in the Spanish country side, only to end up in the pound for over three years. There is a lot of social behaviour that need to be re-learnt and trained.
Now, you might be wondering what this essay about my dogs have got to do with crafting, but I’m getting to it, promise. I just wanted to lay some groundwork for some of the crazy you are bound to encounter along the way with me.
Now it’s time to get to the card! I have used the Bork stamp set here and done quite a CAS card, which is something I struggle with. I’m usually a colours and layers kind of gal, me. Trust me, you will see soon enough.
I started out by stamping one of the doggies on an A2 panel of Strathmore Bristol Vellum card stock. It’s stamped twice with Memento Black Tuxedo ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I also stamped another dog on masking film and fussy cut it out. This I placed on top of the first doggie and then I did the whole stamping and heat embossing thing again.
These doggies are based on my own two, who often cuddle and sit close together and I coloured the dogs in with similar colours using Zig Clean Color markers. Once I was done with the colouring it was time to add sentiments, and I used two from the Fur Babies stamp set. It’s not quite perfect as I have two and it says ‘Sorry, I can’t, I have plans with my DOG’. I need one with plural as I can’t see myself ever have less than one dog! And I may need to mass-produce these to hand out when people try and invite me to really peopley things, lol!
Well, that kind of rounds up this first post of mine. I will be back shortly though, and I will try my best to rein in the crazy but can make no promises!
Thanks for stopping by today and see you all soon,
happy crafting from Erica
