I’m so excited to be part of the Ink Road Stamps design team! Hello, my name is Lacey Gasper and I have been crafting since I was a kid (thanks Mom!). I’m excited to share my passion and love of crafting with you and of course using the amazing Ink Road Stamps products!
Today I’m sharing a layout I created using my personal favorite stamp set, Bella Flora. I have had this set for quite sometime and it sees a lot of love. I’m pairing the stamp set with some Nuvo Shimmer Powders (Cherry Bomb, Catherine Wheel, Solar Flare, Atlantis Burst, Blue Blitz, and Violet Brocade), watercolor paper, Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors, Ink Road Stamps #beautifulmess, and Ink Road Stamps Hello Gorgeous Die. Let’s get started.
First, I worked on my background using the Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I knew I wanted the color to come out from the center, so I sprinkled the powder (a little goes a long way) in diagonals from the center area (where my photo will be located).
To get the powders to move I sprayed the powder with water from the center out. Since that is the direction I wanted the powders / inks to move.
Once I got the look I wanted, I set it aside to dry. I love how the colors moved across the page and of course who doesn’t love some shimmer?
Next, I stamped the Bella Flora flowers on watercolor paper. I used my Misti for this step as the paper is textured and I wanted a good impression. I stamped 3 flowers per page (5″ x 7″ water color paper). Each image was stamped 3-4 times with Gina K. Designs – Black Amalgam Ink, due to the textured paper.
I then fussy cut each of the flower bundles out using a pair of scissors (while watching Christmas Hallmark Movies).
After I cut out the floral images, I placed them on my background piece. I wanted to figure out placement of the flowers before I painted the flowers, since they will follow the color scheme of the background.
I painted each flower bundle, not being careful of staying in the lines, with the Nuvo Shimmer Powders (just mix with water) and my Mijello Mission Gold Watercolor set. Each bundle of flowers was painted per the colors in the area I was going to be placing them.
I just LOVE the burst of color on this page. Which brings me back to my first picture. I was originally going to use a picture I took at our lake home, but because there is so much color already going on, I switched the picture to a black and white photo of my husband and I that we recently took.
I layered the flowers behind and above the photo to add dimension and visual interest.
Finally, using the Hello Gorgeous die “Hello” and stamping the “create in Love” heart from the #Beautifulmess, I created my title. I masked off the “create in…” from the heart shape with banner to just keep the word love. I fussy cut the heart and the inners of the heart to create an outlined piece. I adhered these too pieces to the lower left corner of my layout.
To finish it off, I typed and printed my journaling, cut into strips and adhered that below the word “hello”. And added some clear sequins.
Thanks for joining me today, have a beautiful day. #createfreely
