Hey Roadies! Lorena here, showing you how to make some awesome wine gift tags perfect for the Holidays. I used a couple of Ink Road stamp sets for different examples but the possibilities are endless with these tags! You can also make these for birthdays or any occasion just change up the stamp set. Let’s get started!
You’ll need some heavy weight card stock that is 8.5″ x 11″. One sheet will make 4 wine tag bases. For my card stock I used 110 lb heavy weight card stock in teal and burgundy. Start off by scoring your card stock at 2.75″ forming a long score line that is 11″ long.
Next cut it down to strips 2.75″ wide. Each finished tag with measure 2.75′ x 8.5″. Once you have all of your wine tag bases all cut and scored you can start designing your tag! I used patterned paper to make it easy but you can stamp or ink blend a background or stamp your own patterned design.
You will also need a circle die to die cute an opening for the wine bottle neck. I used one that was 1.5″. Start off by lining up your trimmed piece of patterned paper on the square part of your tag. Place it where you would glue it down and align the circle die in the middle and tape it in place using some washi. Move the tag base from underneath and run only the patterned paper through your die cut machine. Keep the circle center for later.
Next align the patterned paper back on the tag and tape the circle die in place once again but this time to cut the circle into the wine tag base. Run it through your die cut machine and keep the circle.
You should end up with these pieces. You can now glue down your patterned paper that will align with the circle on your tag.
Take the two circle center die cuts and glue them together and punch a hole to make a circle tag. Write or stamp To: and From: on the solid color side and decorate the patterned part or leave as is. I attached my tag using some pink ribbon to match my paper. This adds a fun detail and will come in handy when gifting.
For the first example I used Inked Girl Robin and some winter cocktail patterned paper. I thought this inked girl was just the perfect image to put on a wine tag! I stamped and colored her using alcohol markers and mounted her using foam tape onto a vellum rectangle.
I used the burgundy card base for my next example and chose a buffalo check patterned paper. I stamped out the Santa from Happy Holla Days and colored him in using alcohol markers. I fussy cut him out and mounted him using foam tape onto a neutral paper die cut. I added some sparkle to his outfit using a shimmer pen and glossy accents to his pipe and glasses. For the finishing touches I added snowflake sequins and my favorite Ink Road gems in Becca Ice.
For this last example I wanted to show you that you can totally customize patterned paper and add a unique twist. I picked a striped pattern paper and stamped the word ‘SLEIGH’ from the Happy Holla Days set using a light ink all over my paper. The ‘bottoms up!’ sentiment is from Inked Girl Robin. I did some light ink blending on a die cut and stamped the snowflakes using coordinating ink to go with my patterned paper. I added a scattering of gems in Heather Pearl and Becca Ice.
I really hope you enjoyed this blog post and encourage you to make some awesome wine tags for the holidays! Please tag me in your projects, I would love to see what you create! -Lorena Curnutte @theangelscardco
