Hello everyone. It’s Koren here with another card for you today. This card is near and dear to my heart, just because of all the kids in my family that have loved Minecraft and this set is the greatest tribute to that game that could ever have entered my world. I know tons of kids, and even some adults, that would love to receive a Minecraft card or invitation.
I started with a gray card base cut to A2 size in portrait orientation. I also cut a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth White cardstock to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4. I used the smallest square die in my stash to cut into a piece of stencil material. I cut one lonely square from a piece of stencil material the size of an A2 card front. I used it to ink blend various Distress Oxide ink colors to create the square Minecraft-like background you see in the finished photos. I used Distress Oxide inks in Broken China, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain. I also added a little Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink to the blue sky to get some square clouds. I used two variations of each color to give the background some depth and to make it even more like the Minecraft 8 bit aesthetic.
I stamped the sentiment, which is also from the Game On stamp set that reads “Are you a block of dirt? Because I dig you”. I love this sentiment. It just really makes me smile when I read it. I stamped it with Versamark ink onto a medium gray piece of card stock cut into a strip. I heat embossed it with Ranger White embossing powder. I showed both of my teenage children and one of them actually liked my card. Just so you know, in this house I’m happy to get half their attention. I added the heart also from the Game On stamp set and stamped it with Distress Oxide ink in Candied Apple.
I popped up the background piece with craft fun foam and double sided adhesive. I also popped up the sentiment strip but this time with Scotch 3M foam tape. I let the strip hang all the way to the edge of the card base before I trimmed off the excess using scissors. The card base is a light warm gray card base. Which I think plays nicely with the colors in the background.
I hope you enjoyed my card project today. This set is so fun. I will have more Game On cards to share using this set in the future. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates with this this set. The possibilities are endless, just like the game itself. Always remember, “I dig you” and happy crafting.
