Have you survived Thanksgiving? You ready for Christmas yet? Good to hear cuz neither am I!!! I have two different cards today to get a little bit more in to the Christmas spirit even if you’re as much as a Bah Humbug as I am! Using the Happy Holla Days stamp set as well as the Full Circle Vol. 2 set. You ready? Here we go!
Since the making of both of these cards is almost identical Ill be talking about both at the same time. With this set we are essentially stamping multiple times while turning your paper just slightly so that you cut a perfect circle of your chosen stamp. the motions are essentially:
2. Turn paper
4. Turn paper.
Then you can expand the circle to your specifications. Let’s start with the Full circle vol. 2 set and make a geometric wreath. Now… There is a template that you can buy out there to make your own wreath using stamps which I have and love. I however was able to make one on my ECM (Electric Cutting Machine) and will be using this one for this tutorial. You can always do this the old fashion way and put it on a pin or… a wheel and pully system… I’m not sure. Anyway that you do it you just need to make sure that it gives you a uniform stamp.
You will need a square piece of card stock cut top the precise square of your template. I decided to use a 4” x 4” square. Load it up in your stamping platform. (Please tell me you have a stamping platform!…Well if you don’t I won’t judge you, I in fact salute you! That’s hard work!)
I marked a corner with a little heart so that you can see the turns as they happen.
*Sorry for the photo avalanche!
To complete the first wreath style card I colored in the white areas using the colored pencils/gamsol technique that I detailed in my “I wanna be where the people arn’t…” blog post. I got creative and just played around with different shades of green until the image began to look like a wreath! I made a little paper bow and added layers of Christmas themed patterned paper, added a hella cool sentiment and then I had myself a Christmas card!
In the spirit of saving you time (I know that it’s Christmas and ain’t nobody got time for this) The second card was made using the same technique using the Snow Flakes from the Happy Holla Days stamp set. The big difference I did was the circle in the middle which I used my ECM to create. You can then stamp the sentiment and emboss it in whatever color you like. I then outlined the pencil in blue colored pencil and used Gamsol to blend the layers to the center to give a frosted effect. I also used a shimmer pen to really give it that Elsa realness. Always remember more is more, so….. break out the flat back half beads- Donna and just… add as many as possible!
Now put them together and what have you got? I say two amazing Christmas gifts! So knock those of your list of a million things to do this holiday season! I asleep got you a little gift! If you pop over to the Ink Road Shop and enter Oliver10 at check out, you’ll save 10%! I know… that’s pretty awesome! If you have any further questions about the making of these cards PLEASE find me on my various social medias and I will answer them in pain staking detail. I’m also quite lonely so I will be more than happy to chat your ear off! Till next time!
