Welcome back to the Ink Road blog. Today we continue our meet the team posts introducing our next member, Simone.
I live in Perth, Western Australia, with my hubby, our identical twin girls, and our fluffy little kitty cat. I originally grew up in a small country town a few hours south of Perth and will always be a country girl at heart.
My girls are now in kindergarten, so in between housework and before school pick-up I like to sneak into my craft room and get stamping.
I have always had a love for cute stationery and paper products from a young age, which soon turned into a patterned paper obsession), and then into card making and stamping! 10 years on, and I still love pretty papers, but I am now obsessed with rubber stamping and creating cards. My style is definitely clean and simple, as I love lots of clean white space, along with paper piecing and adding in a few fun embellishments.
My craft room is fairly new, as we finished building our home in May last year. I’ve made our spare bedroom my very own craft space with a large desk for creating my cards and a separate desk for all of my computer work.
I use the wardrobe of the room as my craft storage area, where I have put shelving inside to house all my stamps and supplies. I then have a bit more storage space in a white cabinet at the other end of the room. My favourite part of the room is where my craft desk is, as it sits right in front of a large window so there is always plenty of natural light right where I need it when I create.
Wow, I can’t believe I still have a photo of this card! This was one of the very first cards I ever created almost 11 years ago. As you can see, my style has definitely evolved to more technique based and lots of white space. This card was all patterned paper, ribbon, and a rub-on sentiment! I think that was before I owned any stamps! I have definitely come a long way in my card making to my current CAS style that I create with today!
My current style is more clean and simple with lots of white space. I love making the stamped image and a few embellishments to main focal point of my cards. Technique wise, my favourite go to ones are definitely die cutting, paper piecing, heat embossing, Copic coloring, and also creating shaker cards.
