Summer is here and even though all things are in bloom and the air is warm and all the colours around me are bright and pastel and flowery…I used NOT ONE BIT of that for my inspiration today. 😂
I went heavy, dark, and dramatic for today’s creation with Subway Art: Love and used a metallic watercolour wash over top of white heat embossing on black cardstock.
Using my MISTI, I heat embossed the entire stamp with Versamark and white embossing powder on black cardstock, then trimmed the panel to fit slightly small than an A2 card base. With Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Night watercolours, I brushed a light wash of various metallic colours over top of the words. Once dry, I went back and did another layer and let it dry, and then a third and final wash of colour. Since I did not use watercolour cardstock I was careful to not use too much water each time and saturate the cardstock. To finish the card off, I adhered the panel to a black A2 card base using foam tape and glued on some gold sequins.
Metallic watercolours. Your thing or not your thing? Imagine the same card with brighter colours on black or white cardstock! What a pretty way to make your panel pop. Also, check out that When Harry Met Sally dvd…do you know which quote in the Subway Art: Love set comes from that classic movie? What’s YOUR favourite romantic movie quote? Mine is actually on this set which just delights me. “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” *Sigh* Oh Mr. Darcy. 😍
