Today I am using INKED. Girl Emma for a mixed media style card. INKED. Girls are limited edition, so get them while you can! Every so often we vote in the Roadies Facebook group on what girls to bring back.
This card began with many scraps of square paper that I purposefully cut wonky and adhered to a background.
I trimmed the edges straight, then painted the entire piece with blue acrylic paint.
I went around the edges of each rectangle with a darker blue acrylic paint, wiping the paint away after each stroke while still wet to create a distressed look. I used a white gel pen to create highlight strokes on the top right of each rectangle.
To add some texture to the background I used Subway Art: Fairytale. Instead of putting the stamp on an acrylic block I held it in my hand and stamped using a deep blue archival ink. This allows organic edges as you’re only stamping portions of the stamp at once. In some places I focused on certain words I wanted to highlight such as laughter, dreams, and faith.
For the focal image I stamped INKED. Girl Emma in waterproof ink onto bristol smooth cardstock. I colored her using my favorite water based markers, Arteza brush pens. I stamped and fussy cut the mask multiple times, then layered them on top of each other for dimension on the finished card.
I completed the card with a sentiment. The Nurse letters are from Bock Party Alpha Outline, and the hero sentiment is from INKED. Girl Emma.
For the inside of the card I stamped Emma in the same deep blue ink I used on the card front, then added a strip of washi and a sentiment from the same set.
