Hello crafty friends. I’m happy to be sharing my first card for Ink Road Stamps, featuring Modern Romance and Mug Life. Although this is the month of romance, did you know today is Singles Awareness Day? Grab a friend and celebrate at your favorite coffee shop! Which brings me to my theme. Nothing says I love you, (even to your bestie) like a good cup of brew.
For this card, I did a good bit of masking, plus reverse image stamping with the mugs from Modern Romance and my Cosmic Copper Dew Drop Ink. With reverse image stamping, the tricky part is getting enough ink on the reverse image rubber to have a cohesive mirror image of your stamp. To fix this, simply grab a water brush, press pigment ink onto a craft mat and color the outline for a better finish. Sprinkle a little clear embossing powder over the wet image, tap off the excess and seal with a heat craft tool.
I really wanted the sentiment to shine, so I used a masking technique, alternating the colors of my stamped sentiment with a variety of inks. Strategically placed sections of washi tape or painters tape on your stamp, plus a stamp positioner, makes the magic happen.
I wanted to add the word “coffee” to the bottom of my sentiment, so I grabbed the Mug Life stamp set. You can also use the masking technique, as well. However, I have to make a confession. Sometimes I like to chop things. Onions? Yes. Apples? Yes. Stamps? YES!! I don’t do it often, but yes, on occasion, I do cut a word here or there from a stamp that I plan on using over and over as a single word. In this case, I used my titanium extra fine tipped scissors to delicately cut the word “coffee” from my stamp. I know what you’re thinking. That is downright sacrilegious! It’s okay people, really it is. The stamp was placed right back with the rest of the set and can easily be stamped again with the complete sentiment. Be brave! Go chop some stuff! (You didn’t hear that from me….)
Lastly, I created two stripes above and below my sentiment by masking off the area with tape and dragging an alcohol ink marker across for a pop of more color. I also tapped in small dots between the word “coffee for added embellishment, and my sentiment and cups are all popped up on adhesive foam. This card was sized trimmed down slightly from an A2 size, to better accommodate the width of my sentiment for visual appeal.
Thanks so much for stopping in today!
