I am a rainbows-for-life kind of lady. The bright cheery colours, the excitement at seeing one in the sky after a storm, the wonderful things they represent…I love it all. As an adult I have decorated my studio with a rainbow theme and I even painted a set of stairs in my house with rainbow steps. My kids just love it and my husband was very glad it was a project I did on my own and didn’t pester him with lol! Coffee-for-life is also my morning mantra so this card is PERFECT to keep for myself. No talky before coffee is what I tell my kids each morning!
Alcohol inks give me an easy way to use rainbow colours in my craft projects. My card today started out as a piece of Yupo paper that I swiped a rainbow pattern across using a felt pad and some bright alcohol ink colours. I really think that I have had those felt pads since the early 2000’s. I guess there is a reason NOT to throw things out. (Someone tell my family that!)
While the Yupo dried (this doesn’t take long), I stamped the travel mugs across the front of the panel and coloured them in with Copic markers. The sentiment was stamped in black ink, then again in Versamark and heat embossed with a clear sparkle powder. I trimmed a strip of the rainbow paper and adhered it across the bottom of the panel. The insulated part (it’s usually cardboard from most coffee shops) was paper pieced. A couple of sequins were adhered and the entire panel was stuck to an A2 card using foam tape. Are you a coffee drinker? Tea? Stay away from caffeinated beverages? My limit is two in the mornings and maybe a decaf just to warm up in the afternoon. I wouldn’t say no to a cup of tea though.
You can pick up Mug Life in The Ink Road shop and don’t forget to use code MARCIE10 for 10% off your purchase! Check out other ways of using this fun set on the blog here. I particularly love how Lacey used rainbow colours in her card too!
