Hello Hello Hello! I am here today to share with you a card that is very important to me. Not only is it using the first set of Ink Road Stamps I have ever received (shout out to my girl Patricia!) but also a cause very important to me. If you will allow me to get on my soap box for a moment… Being a proud member of the LGBTQIA community it was so exciting to find a stamp set that was made specifically for the LGBTQIA community. There are many stampers, card makers, scrapbookers, paper crafters, and crafters in general that are LGBTQIA and it is so amazing that a company has recognized that and made a stamp for us. LGBTQIA visibility is very just as important now as it has ever been. Thank you Lara for being an ally and recognizing our community! OK I’m off my soap box now… Let’s get to card making!!!
To begin I started with some 110lbs cardstock, and used a stencil to create the ink blend background. I picked the rainbow color motif to reflect the pride flag colors. Since I used oxide inks I usually find it best to heat set the ink afterwards. Once you have the back ground complete go ahead and set it aside and lets get to stamping!
I specifically used the large hearts and heart air balloons to create this card. I combined the heart to to top of the balloon on black card stock so that there was more contrast between the rainbow background and the heart hot air balloons. Also the hearts are much bigger than the hearts on the hot air balloons so that is another reason I used the hearts instead if the hot air balloons by themselves. I added a piece of foam tape to the heart to give it a little dimension.
After you have affixed the black hearts to the hot air balloons you can then add the washi tapes.
Alright next step… Do my post always just end up feeling like a whole lot of steps?… Once the washi tape is on the balloons you can add the little highlights to the balloons to give them that plastic like look. Now that they are all complete throw on some embellishments! OK y’all don’t be shocked but this time I did not use use pearls… I chose the Flat Back Deluxe Gems- Aurora Diamonds for their rainbow like shine.
I finished up the card with the sentiment “It takes courage to grow up and be who you really are” since that is a beautiful sentiment that is pretty universal!
Now you have a completed card! Give it to your best squirrel friend or proudly display it on your mantle
