I am starting to feel summer vibes, so I created this Orange You Cute card combining This Stamp Is Bananas with Bun Intended 2. Once I settled on this design I realized my orange ink pad was dried out, so I challenged myself to make a card using inexpensive water based (crayola) markers for all of the colored stamping and water coloring!
For the background I wanted an artsy watercolor look of repeating images. I used the orange stamp from This Stamp Is Bananas and scribbled on the stamp with the orange and yellow Crayola markers. I spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped onto the cardstock and let it sit for a minute to achieve this effect.
On to the focal image! I stamped Bun Intended 2 onto bristol smooth cardstock with versafine onyx black ink then clear heat embossed on top. I used the same Crayola markers to color this image by scribbling the marker onto my glass mat and picking up the color with a wet paint brush. The shirt and bow are orange marker, and the hair is brown marker. The for the fair skin tone I scribbled down brown and yellow markers and added a lot of water for the light color.
I assembled the card by popping up my fussy cut bun girl with craft foam onto the orange stamped background. I used a piece of striped washi tape and a black cardstock banner to ground the image. I stamped “orange you cute” from This Stamp Is Bananas onto a white cardstock rectangle and popped it up on craft foam on top of the washi.
To finish off the inside of the card I used the same technique as the orange background and stamps also from This Stamp Is Bananas. I scribbled yellow and green Crayola markers onto the pineapple stamp and spritzed it with water before stamping it down. After the pineapple completely dried I stamped the sentiment over top using versafine onyx black ink.
