Hello, Roadies! It’s Ashlea and today I am feeling a bit summer-y. I’m getting pretty tired of the winter weather and I’m jonesing for some bright colors and summer vibes. So let’s pull out the This Stamp Is Banana’s set, shall we? We shall.
To start, I knew I wanted to use the orange stamp because I wanted a bright color to be the focal point of my card. I ink blended Sauna ink by Catherine Pooler onto a piece of card stock and then sprayed some clean water over the top to activate the ink and create some water splashes. I then used another Catherine Pooler ink in Tutti Frutti and stamped the orange image multiple times over the ink blending. Because i HATE fussy cutting, I used a circle die from my stash that fit around the orange pretty perfectly and die cut each orange out.
I then used Autumn Blaze watercolor brush by Altenew to splash some watercolor onto my card front and then scored lines every half inch to create more interest on the card front. Using foam tape squares, I adhered the oranges to my card front making sure to overlap them. I did this in a pattern going from opposite corners on the card front. I then heat embossed the pun-tastic sentiment “orange you cute” to a black piece of card stock and adhered that to one of the oranges.
I realized my card was pretty monotone with orange, so I added some stamped leaves from the Bloom Where You Are Planted set and used Grass Skirt ink also by Catherine Pooler to color them in. I adhered them with glue under a few of the orange slices and was pleased with the contrast of colors.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about how I created this card. I love seeing what you create so be sure to tag #inkroadstamps on your instagram posts! Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again very soon!
