Hi friends! It’s Mary and I’m back with a love themed layout since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Except instead of documenting my love for my husband or even the love I have for my kids, I wanted to focus on their wacky love for one another. Isaac, my oldest who’s 8, is 4 years older than his little sister. From the moment he set eyes on her he was in love. She, however, terrorizes him. She gets it from her mama. What I tell Isaac is that some day he’ll find a girl who’s just like me and sissy and that will be “the one”. I usually get an eye-roll from him with that one.
So on to the layout, shall we?
Today I’m using the “Blended” stamp set. I have had so many ideas up my sleeves for using that cute geometric heart and I chose to start off by embossing the stamp first to create a resist. I like to use white embossing powder to really make the embossing stand out against any color but you can use any color and even clear to create a resist. Then I dipped the stamp in a pool of spray mist and stamped over the image. I love the artsy effect it gave by leaving some white space.
I fussy cut the hearts out after they were dry and lined them up in sort of a rainbow order, then popped them up on foam to add more dimension.
I have been hoarding this paper from Crate Paper “Carousel” by Maggie Holmes until I found the right pictures to use it with. I cut down the letters and they work perfectly with the cheesy title I wanted to use. Then I mostly stuck with the “Carousel” collection to embellish the layout, although it didn’t need much after all of the fun stamping.
Next I took the solid heart stamp and did some ghost stamping on top of my mixed media background. I love the graphic look that black ink can add to a layout.
This just goes to show you how versatile these stamp sets can be when you think a little outside the box!
Here’s another look at the completed layout!
