I started this card by digging through my patterned paper stash for something that reminded me of a retro design. I couldn’t choose between these two patterns, so I decided to incorporate them both into the design. I paired them with brown and cream paper.
My next step was to get a rough layout of the design, and do all my stamping. Using a vintage yellow embossing powder, I stamped and heat emobssed my main sentiment, Happy Birthday from Mari Party, onto a strip of brown cardstock. I stamped the main image from Snarky Housewife onto bristol smooth using brown ink, then clear heat embossed on top. I used the same brown ink to stamp the smaller sentiment also from Snarky Housewife.
I moved on to color my main image using Arteza real brush pens. I blended out a darker color with a lighter colored marker, not using any water. This creates a vibrant blend without a watercolor look.
Arteza markers used:
Skin: Light Skin, Pale Skin
Hair: Coffee, Tawny
Lips/ Dress: Red, Tomato Red
Dress accents: Orange Rust, Sunset Yellow
After completing all of the elements to this card, I assembled them together. The housewife image and Happy Birthday strip are adhered using craft foam for dimension.
As usual I finished off the inside of the card. This time I used a speckle cardstock card base, and added strips of patterned paper to the bottom.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this snarky birthday card and are inspired to create something of your own.
