Today’s card was inspired by a scrapbook page the lovely Kira Ness created – to be specific it was a square on her page that had a ‘XO’ surrounded by green/bluish black floral tones. I’m not even quite sure whether it was pattern paper or ephemera but I was inspired by that corner to create the card below based on those colours and overall sketch idea.
Here is the card:
I first used the letters ‘X and O’ from Block Party Alphas to stamp my sentiment. I masked the letters then proceeded to stamp the fern and leaf from the stamp set Frond of You. I used my MISTI and a combination of ink (greens, blue and a purple) to create tones within the leaves – a rock n roll technique that I love using for block stamps like this.
Once the stamping process was completed I trimmed the card to 3 inches x 3 inches, added a machine stitched line and then matted it to light green card slightly larger than the measurements above. This was then adhered to my card front and embellished with sequins and twine. I distressed and tore the edges around the stitched area slightly with my hands to create interest and give a textural element to the card.
I love being inspired by others and there is no doubt that this design team is full of very talented girls. I hope you enjoyed my card today – try the rock n roll technique or find inspiration within my card shared with you today.
