Start Of Something New

September 24, 2018

Hello – Samantha here, sharing a project I made awhile back now. About a month ago I decided to try something new. I’ve been a card maker for the longest time and I’ve been inspired by so many Travelling Notebooks that I decided that I needed to jump on to this trend! To be honest – I don’t necessarily know where this creative journey will take me. I’m not a documenter, I don’t own a diary, and though I use to scrapbook (long long ago) I’m not someone who would openly share these on social media…BUT! I love the idea of a quote book and I love that this journal is a condensed space I can create in and try new ideas that are just for me and not on a card that gets given away.

Tell me what you think? Are you into journaling?

If there was such a thing as a spirit shape the hexagon would be mine… I decided for my first journal page I wanted to create something I liked doing. Repetitive stamping is my go to – I took a few ink colours and stamped the hexagon from Ink Road Stamps – Chin Up Buttercup on to some grid paper. Once this was done the rest came together easily – I added my Silhouette cut out sun and I printed out my sentiment. The sun was adhered to my card along with some sequins. Then finished off with a whole lot of machine stitched details.

It needed something extra – more dimension! So… I stamped a few extra hexagons, trimmed, then adhered them on my journal page with foam tape. I also decided to add some chunky glitter which you can just see in the photo below. I finished it off by trimming down my printed out sentiment and adhering this above the sun and embellished it more with a twine bow.

Who ever decided that the world needed a six sided shape called a hexagon is a genius! Hope you are inspired to try something new from my post today. I think sometimes when you’ve been creating cards for as long as I have, trying something new is a welcomed change. I look forward to sharing another travel journal page with you soon…

Feel free to comment and inspire me with some quotes for my next journal page.

Happy Crafting!
