Stretch Your Stamps – A Fun Background with Carol

January 27, 2021

Hello! And welcome back to another crafty day. Today, I’m here to show off the stamp set Basics: Tiny Dots Cluster. Before I jump in, don’t forget to join the conversation over on Facebook where the Roadies discuss all things, all the time, in every possible category. … oh, and design ideas, too! lol

Let’s jump in!

This card came together kind of… awkwardly at first, but once I had all the elements in place, I just went for it, and ultimately LOVED how it came along.

First, I took an A2 sized panel and ink blended from blue, purple, pink-ish red, to very light pink. I saw that color combination somewhere, I it resonated with me, so I decided to try it today!

Then, I added some Tiny Dot Clusters with heat embossing. I wanted to get a “mixed metals” type of appearance, so I went for: bronze, silver, and gold.

With that finished, I didn’t want to just leave it there. Even though the background was definitely appealing, I really wanted to lean into a sort of “chaotic” texture. So, I die cut –as straight as I could — three long strips down the middle (for this, I used the longest strip in the Cat with Sign Dies). Believe it or not, that idea was actually part of the original plans! With the background finished, I left it alone for a couple days, unsure of what I wanted to do.

By day 3, I had fallen and caught an attitude, so that ended up in my card! lol, I stamped out the flower from the Bascis Flower 1 Stamp set. and colored it, rather crudely, and added opal shimmer for a little tasty distraction. Using the Cat with Sign Dies, I die cut the cat out of brown, polka dotted paper. I was thinking: the more cohesive chaos, the better. So why not? Topped it off with a pair of sweet ass googley eyes, and called it a win!

The sentiment comes from a retired set called “Bitch Please”, which I found perfectly fitting for this goofy looking feline.

There it is! Another day, another card; another blog. Hope you enjoyed this today, folks. If you’re here and you read this and you’ve come this far… please treat yourself to a coupon code: Use code CAROL10 when you shop at the Ink Road, to save 10% off your whole order!
