Today’s Good Mood

August 8, 2018

Hello everyone. This is my very first post for The Ink Road. I’m more nervous writing this blog post than I ever am when working in front of a camera. I guess I always feel more confident speaking to someone than writing to them. Hopefully I do a good job despite my apprehension.

Today, I am sharing a card I made using the NEW Mug Life stamp set. I created a slider card for the various degrees of “good mood” that coffee puts me in. I used most the sentiments from that set to assume the positions of each of those moods. I can totally relate to feeling like a “gangsta” after I’ve had my caffeine.

I started with a gray card base cut to size A2 and oriented in the landscape orientation. I then cut a speckled, natural, off- white cardstock to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4. I used a slider die to cut a path for my slider to sit in and backed it with a piece of rainbow patterned paper.

I stamped each sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and added a little  Nuvo drop in Ebony Black  below each phrase to indicate which mood we are on as the slider slides up and down the track. The more coffee you drink the more you can slide the mug down the slider path to a better mood.

The image of the mug is also from the Mug Life stamp set, was stamped in Copic-friendly Memento Tuxedo black ink. I colored the image using Copic Markers W3, W1, and W0, just to give it a little bit of dimension.

I used a 3/4 inch circle punch to rest on the inside of the slider track. I then placed an MFT slider element on top of it, adhered with a glue dot and then stuck my image onto it, making sure my slider image won’t fall off with yet another glue dot. Now the mug moves freely but securely inside the slider track. The rest of this panel is secured to the card base using Scotch 3M Foam tape.  Making sure to avoid the area in which my slider image is adhered.

The main sentiment “today’s good mood sponsored by coffee” is stamped onto black cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger White embossing powder. It was trimmed to a nice square and popped up onto the front panel of the card with more foam tape.

I absolutely love this Mug Life stamp set. I have tons of coffee card ideas to share with you all. Until next time, happy crafting.
