Hey everyone! Kira here with another 12×12 scrapbook layout. Do y’all love autumn as much as I do?! There is something about the cooler weather, the crisp fall colors and visiting pumpkin patches that speaks to my soul.
For this layout I wanted to scrap something that coordinates with the season, so I printed off this photo of my youngest son and I apple picking last year. He was just a baby!! And oh em gosh! Those cheeks!
The idea for creating a wreath came to me when I first laid eyes on the #beautifulmess stamp set and saw that adorable wreath that’s included on there. But it wasn’t quite big enough for what I was looking to do. So I decided to create my own wreath.
I started by grabbing a large dinner plate from my kitchen and using that as the template for my wreath. I didn’t want the wreath centered perfectly (partially for design aesthetic, partially because it would have driven me nuts if I wasn’t able to get it perfectly centered). And I pulled out a few of the stamp sets that I thought might be good for creating a wreath design, first, the #beautifulmess stamp set and second, the Majestic AF stamp set.
Next, I picked out my stamp colors. I recently made a large purchase of inks and upon receiving them, I stamped and then punched the stamped images out to keep each color organized. This makes it much easier to coordinate colors when creating a project like this. I wanted a non-traditional fall color scheme so I started with a pale aqua color and built my palette from there.
Then I started stamping. I used a few of the tiny leaf designs and a floral design from the #beautifulmess stamp set, and a rose from the Majestic AF stamp set. I started with the lightest color for my leaves, and gradually began building on top of it with darker elements. It was easiest to work in a circular pattern while stamping, which kept my wreath symmetrical.
After my wreath was complete, I didn’t feel like it needed much more added to it, because I really wanted the wreath to be the focal point on my layout. But I still needed a title. I used the Block Party alphas to stamp my title on some hand cut banner shapes. I went with the simple title of “Happy Autumn” and stamped in two of my accent ink colors.
I finished off the layout by adding foam behind my photo and the title, and stringing the title along some bakers twine to give it the look of a real banner.
