Hello crafty friends! I’m super excited to share today’s card with you. I had this idea for awhile and finally decided to try it. I used Ink Road Stamps – Bella Flora dies to create an on the edge die cut.
Starting with an A2 sized card base, I placed two of the Bella Flora dies on the edge of the card using the stamps as my guide for placement. I drew a line where I wanted the cuts to reach and ran them through my die cut machine one at a time.
Once my edge was cut, I stamped the coordinating Bella Flora stamp on the partial die cut edge with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I used this ink, because I knew I wanted to add some form of water color to paint in the florals.
Next, I grabbed some Faber Castell Gelatos in Butter Cream, Banana, Mango, Peach, Metallic Melon, Watermelon, Aqua Dolce, Metallic Mint, Kiwi, and Lime and scribbled them on a palette. Using a #6 round paint brush I added water to the Gelatos to start adding color to the florals on the card.
I loosely added color to the floral images with the Gelatos using the paint brush.
Once this was completed, I started working on my sentiment. The “You Are” from the Bloom Where You Are Planted stamp set fit the style and thickness of the florals and the focal sentiment from Bella Flora. So I stamped “You Are” so it looked like it was part of the floral arrangement.
Next, I die cut the word “Lovely” from the Bella Flora die set. I cut the outline in American Crafts Black smooth card stock and set aside. I then added Stick-It adhesive to a small piece of Doodlebug Designs Sugar Coated Card Stock in Lily White and ran this through the die cut machine with the word “Lovely”. Because the word is so delicate I wanted to be able to adhere it with no issues to the outline piece.
I felt the card was a little bare and needed a few additional elements, I added a strip of Pink Paislee: Auburn Lane – 08 to the folded edge of the card.
Then I layered the word cut “lovely” on a fun foam piece, which I also die cut from the outline, to give the word a little dimension on the card.
At this stage, I realized I didn’t love the open space between the two floral groups, so I masked the already stamped florals and added a few more flowers to the open area.
To finish off the card, I adhered the word “lovely” below the rest of the sentiment. I also added a piece of black card stock to the inside of the card to help the flowers pop.
I really enjoyed putting this card together and love how it turned out. Have you ever tried partial die cutting? I challenge you to give it a go. If you love any of the products I used today, don’t forget to use my discount code LACEY10 for 10% off in the Ink Road Shop!
